Ume Plum

Japanese Ume plum (Japanese apricot) blooms in January – February. This is a pretty pink variety excellent for both flowers and fruits. Pickled fruits are called Umeboshi, Japanese staple with health benefits. How about homemade Umeshu, delicious fruit liquor? Just steep these fruits with sugar in vodka or white rum. Syrup and vinegar are also often flavored with the fruits.
