Native to central Rocky Mountains from southern Montana-eastern Idaho and south to New Mexico. Slow growing conical conifer Lower branching tends to droop as it ages Small stiff silvery blue needles. 1-3 inch copper brown cones. Dark brown grooved scales bark. Mature to 30-60 feet and 10-20 feet spread. Allow 12-24 feet between trees. Does best in cooler climate and is not tolerate to heat & humidity Moist, well draining soil with high organic matter. Young trees should be kept consistently moist and not allowed to dry out. As the tree matures they become more drought tolerate.
