PURPLE CONEFLOWER SEEDS Echinacea purpurea – Perennial How to Grow Purple Coneflower from Seed Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun. An adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil. Plants usually re-bloom without deadheading, however, immediate removal of spent flowers improves general appearance. Sow the seed at about 1/4″ in the early to mid-spring. Keep moist. Once the plants are up, thin to 1 foot spacing after the second set of leaves has formed. Purple Coneflower likes full sun, plenty of water, rich, well-drained, and limey soil. Freely self-seeds if at least some of the seed heads are left in place. Makes a good fresh cut or dried flower. The dead flower stems will remain erect well into the winter and, if flower heads are not removed, are often visited by goldfinches. Echinacea is derived from the Greek word “echinos” meaning hedgehog in reference to the spiny center cone. Purple Coneflower Echinacea Herb Growing Habits Non-GMO (Echinacea purpurea) Purple Coneflower Echinacea plants grow as warm-season flowering herbs. As perennials, this popular wildflower variety will develop upright as tall and vibrant with daisy-like flowers on slender green stems reaching 4″ tall. Once your echinacea reaches full maturity in either late spring or the following year to harvest the root, your plants will grow fuchsia-colored petals bold with a sweet flavor. Growing Guide Peppers plants thrive best when temperatures are warm. Planting should be delayed until the danger of frost has past. Ideal temperatures are 70 to 80°F during the day, and 60 to 70ºF at night. Pepper plants grow best in warm, well-drained soils. The plants are not particularly sensitive to soil acidity, but best results are obtained in the 6.0 to 6.8 pH range. Planting: Peppers are best started indoors, eight to ten weeks or more before the last frost date for your area. Pepper seeds can be a difficult seed germinate, and seedlings grow slowly. Space plants 18″ inches apart in rows 24″ inches apart or more. Water plants thoroughly after transplanting.Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist; especially when the fruits are developing, peppers need about an inch of water a week. Fertilizer: As the peppers develop, switch over to a fertilizer higher in Phosphorous and Potassium. Gardeners often make the mistake of providing too much nitrogen. The result is a great looking bushy, green plant, but few fruit. Days to Maturity: Most peppers take 60 to 80 days to mature.Harvesting: Bell peppers are usually picked green and immature but when they are full-sized and firm. However, if they are allowed to ripen on the plant they will be sweeter and higher in vitamin content. Other peppers are usually harvested at full maturity. Be careful when breaking the peppers from the plants, as the branches are often brittle. Hand clippers can be used to cut peppers from the plant to avoid excessive stem breakage. The number of peppers per plant varies with the variety. Bell pepper plants may produce 6 to 8 or more fruit per plant.Storing: Store sweet peppers for up to two weeks in a spot that ranges from 50 to 55°F. Hot peppers are good to eat fresh, dry or pickle. Harvest peppers for drying when they start to turn red. Simply pull the plants from the ground and hang them upside down in a cool, dry place.Pests & Diseases: Several insects enjoy your pepper plants. Spider mites and aphids are the most common, with an occasional borer. In many areas, it is infrequent. For the infrequent problem, try an organic insecticide or dust. While many viruses and diseases can affect Peppers, it is somewhat infrequent. Fungal infections can be treated with fungicides. Apply treatment as soon as you see it. Tips: Peppers are self pollinators. Occasionally, they will cross pollinate from pollen carried by bees or other insects. To minimize this possibility, don’t plant hot and sweet peppers too close. Don’t worry though, as it will not affect the fruit of this year’s crop. The cross will show up in the genetics of the seeds, if you save them. 100++ ASPARAGUS Seeds- MARY WASHINGTON-NON – GMO, Heirloom Seeds -USA FREE SHIP

Welcome you to Smartbuyforever! We are a leading Seeds provider for many years! We provide fresh and high-quality Heirlooms seeds, NON-GMO and organic seeds to home gardeners and other’s Growers! Our main offerings: Hundreds of heirloom, rare, beautiful flowers and Herbs and Vegetables seeds. Especially we provide hard to find Herb and flowers seeds! Mary Washington Asparagus – seeds are an old favorite US variety used in the truck garden and commercial market. This perennial produces early, long, straight, dark-green spears with tight purpling tips that are noted for their uniform size! Delicious and resistant to some rusts and blight. The cutting season can last up to 60 days. Asparagus is one of the few perennial vegetable crops. The shoots are picked as young spears in the spring. Later in the season the foliage matures into an airy, fern-like cloud which changes to a golden color in the fall. Because asparagus takes up a permanent place in the garden, but can be an attractive plant, many people with space imitations use asparagus as a border or hedge plant. Before Planting: Plants can be started from seed about 4 weeks before the last expected frost. More commonly they are grown from crowns, which are the one year old base and roots of the plants. These are planted in a trench with the roots spread out over mounded soil. The trench is gradually filled in as the plants grow. Planting: Dig a trench 8 inches deep and wide enough to accommodate the outspread roots (about 10 inches), then space the asparagus 18 inches apart. Leave four feet between rows. Cover the roots with two inches of soil, and continue to fill in the trench as shoots grow. Be sure never to bury the green shoots completely. The trench can usually be filled by the end of the first growing season, but if not, simply continue to work on it the second year. Watering: Water regularly, especially while young. Fertilizer: Top dress annually with compost or mulch. Keep the patch free of competing weeds. Days to Maturity: It takes about three years for plants to mature enough for harvesting. Prior to that plants should be allowed to grow and feed themselves. Harvesting: In the third year, begin harvesting spears that are finger-sized and about 8″ long. You can either snap off the spears are cut them with a knife. Harvest for about 4 weeks the first year. In subsequent years you can harvest until the weather warms and the spears look spindly. Then allow the foliage to grow and feed the plants. Tips: Asparagus is a spring crop, preferring cooler temperatures and full sun. The Daikon root has a crisp, mild flavour and is excellent fresh in salads. Roots can be peeled, sliced, grated, diced for soups and stews, boiled whole or dehydrated as strips. Rabbits, goats, cows, hogs will enjoy the roots and chickens relish the tops! Diakons are a hardy staple on our farm! We allow animals to graze entire fields planted as a cover crop. Excellent for breaking up the soil, improves water penetration and allowing surface level nutrients down root channels. This has been deemed “bio-drilling”. In research plots, four times as many corn roots penetrated a compact subsoil after a forage radish cover crop as after winter fallow and twice as many as after a rye cover crop. Data suggests that biodrilling with cover crops like forage radish can substitute for expensive and energy intensive deep ripping and other mechanical methods to alleviate the effects of soil compaction. They're allelopathic, which means they give off a biochemical (glycosinolate compounds) that inhibits weed growth. Free Shipping: All orders are shipped by USPS First Class Mail.
